Local SEO for Nepali Businesses
Local SEO in Nepal has its own quirks: inconsistent addressing, fewer established local directories, and a Google Business Profile ecosystem that most businesses set up once and never touch again. Here's what's actually worth doing.
Get the basics genuinely consistent
Name, address, and phone number should match exactly across your website, your Google Business Profile, and every directory you're listed on. In Nepal, where a "block" or "chowk" reference often stands in for a formal street address, this is worth double-checking rather than assuming it copied over correctly.
Google Business Profile is doing more work than your website
For most local searches, the map pack shows before organic results. Photos, accurate hours, a filled-out services list, and: critically: actually responding to reviews all factor in. A profile that hasn't been touched since setup is a common reason a good business ranks behind a mediocre one.
Location pages beat one generic "areas we serve" page
If you serve Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur, three genuinely different pages: each with real, specific content about that area: will outperform a single page that lists all three in a sentence. Thin, duplicated location pages are worse than no location pages at all.
Reviews compound
Review count and recency both factor into local rankings, and they're one of the few SEO levers a business owner can pull directly. A simple ask at the point of a good experience: in person, by SMS, whatever fits: usually outperforms any review-generation tool.
None of this requires a big budget, just consistency.
